our story
Watts Winery, situated in the Northern interior of California, started in 1999 with 500 cases of Pescador Vineyard Zinfandel,. The grapes were grown by Watts Vineyards,a 4th generation farming family. Watts Winery was one of the first 12 wineries to be established in Lodi. Since then, there have been many more wineries and over 160 labels produced in the growing region. Watts Winery makes wine from many varieties of family-grown grapes. Cab Sauv, Malbec, Cab Franc, Old vine Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Port Varietals, and more
Our Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and the 1937 Zinfandel port are very popular with many red wine enthusiasts. We produce Chardonnay and Chenin blends that are popular as well. Dos Amores (Cab Sauv/Cab Franc blend) was the first Bordeaux Blend in the region to win Double Gold, Best of State in California. This was quite an upset to the Napa Valley.
All of the wines produced in Watts Winery are in the Old European style. We pride ourselves on the lack of additives. We barrel age just enough to leave the character, variety, and terror of the vines exhibited to their best. Because we use very few additives, the wines age and become better with time. This is opposed to many of today's store-bought brands. Often many of our competitors' brands have limited 3-year lifespans. This is because of large volumes of concentrate and additives to make up for unripe fruit. Our grapes are hand-tasted every day before harvesting to get the perfect ripeness, then sanitarily made in small batches. The wines are matured in Oak barrels and then later in glass bottles in order to get the proper quality one should experience in a glass of wine. You will find the color to be natural red instead of a manipulated purple caused by additives. Our customary description of our wine holds true to the terms: Start - Middle - Finish!
Through 24 years of winemaking, My wife Sheri and I have been blessed with the quality of great people who have enjoyed our wines with us. We hope to continue in this tradition and see many of you again soon!

Trout Peak is the highest mountain in the Northern Absaroka range. Brian Timmer is a local artist in the town of Cody, Wyoming. We chose a grizzly bear with a Yellowstone trout to represent our brand in this special place on earth. We have spent a lot of time in the Rocky Mountains in and around Yellowstone National Park and wanted to give tribute to this region of the United States
